We love the Swedish duo, Icona Pop, here at flashbracket but what we love even more is a remix by the Cookie Monster. The Sesame Street character has already covered Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe last year as Share It Maybe (again about cookies, natch), and now he is back covering Icona Pop’s 2012 hit, I Love It as Me Want It (But Me Wait). Cookie Monster is starting to catch up with The xx as one of my favourite remix masters! Click to watch my favourite Sesame Street character do his thing.

Just For Laughs Festival: Twins Parade
Just For Laughs mascots at the Twins Parade
Every year at Montréal’s Just For Laughs festival, the comedy organization holds the incredible Twins Parade where twins from around the world are invited to march in this surreal event. This means that twins, triplets, and sometimes quintuplets arrive in this city as part of yet another summer festival and march down the streets in a themed, coordinated fashion. This year’s parade theme was “Cowboys and Cowgirls” and took place yesterday, Saturday July 27th.
Unfortunately, my plans to watch the parade and attend one of the many featured shows — this year’s comedians included the likes of Dave Chapelle, Joan Rivers, Godfrey, Jimmy Carr, and others — fell through. However, I did dig up some photos from a Twins Parade a few years back and while these photographs do not bring the event any justice, they do provide a snapshot of some moments in the entertaining event. My best description of this event is that it is like a dive through the rabbit hole — taking in this parade is truly bizarre (everyone looks the same!) — and you may start wondering what substance got tossed into your coffee this morning. Just For Laughs 2013 closes today, so if you did not catch the festival this year come back next year in mid-July to partake in all the fun the festival has to offer. An Important Message About Paul Ryan
[Photo Credit: Gregg Segal for TIME Magazine]
I know that the Veep Debate just ended and Twitter is all aflutter with the musings and analysis from the Internet universe.
However, I would like to steer the focus to something much more pressing: Paul Ryan’s photo shoot for TIME Magazine. No matter what your political affiliation may be, one must ask: Pourquoi? Also, what kind of team of advisors decided that this was a great idea? We all knew that Ryan was deep into his P90X regime, and I commend him for his devotion to healthy activities. But a photo with Ryan in a cheesy, hat-backwards stance with a bro salute just oozed out an Onion article IRL.
There are conflicting reports from Ryan’s side and TIME regarding the use of the photos, with an aide to Ryan’s team telling CNN that TIME had assured the photos would never be published. So then what kind of purpose were these photos meant to serve? Keep us guessing, Blue Steel. Keep us guessing.
